It seems too good to be true, right? Well it isn't as far fetched as you might think.
The special Just Sweat mode featured on Just Dance 3, is designed specifically for burning the calories and losing weight.
This is not just for the lazy or fitness illiterate though. It can be used to inject a bit of fun into your usual routine or even as a warm up before the main event.
After over indulging this Christmas (January too), I decided to put the Just Dance 3 Just Sweat mode to the test.
I embarked on my own two week challenge to see what this feature had to offer (if I lost my mini pot belly in the process, all the better).
I weighed myself everyday and measured my waist and hips. Although my diet remained unchanged (I might be small, but I eat a lot), I actually managed to see some results.
|Day||Weight (kg)||Hips (cm)||Waist (cm)||Workout (mins)|
I started with 'Healthy Choice' from one of the 7-Day Challenges. The aim was to reach 7000 Sweat Points in one week, the equivalent of running 30 minutes per day (supposedly).
Each dance you complete is measured in Sweat Points whilst your progress is tracked with a day-by-day graph. The Wii remote calculates how much you move, a bit like a pedometer (no just shaking it though, you're only cheating yourself).
It took me around 15 to 20 minutes (approx. 4 songs) to reach the daily objective. I soon realised this wasn't enough (I was having way too much fun).
I completed the week's objective in just 4 days!
This is a great level to use in addition to other exercise, like... well running. If I wanted to see some results though, it was clear I needed to bump it up to the next level.
'Sweat Explosion' is the highest out of the three levels. You need to reach or exceed a total of 21000 Sweat Points over seven days. This is the equivalent of swimming 30 minutes per day.
It took me around 45 to 50 minutes per day to complete the daily target (approx. 11 songs). As you can see from the graph below, some days I would exceed this.
I managed to finish this challenge in 6 days despite the Wii not recording Day 2 in full. (Correct sweat points for Day 2 are 3268, making week two's total 27320).
This felt much more like a proper workout. I could definitely notice a difference in my arms. My stomach felt a little flatter too. It even helped with my coordination (my legs and arms are rarely seen in sync).
Overall I am happy with the results, how ever slight. Just Dance 3 is basically an interactive fitness video, cleverly disguised as a fun and friendly game for your console. Unlike your usual DVD, you get instant feedback with a score at the end to help judge how you are performing.
Best of all, you can do this all without having to leave your home. In the process avoiding those expensive gym memberships, that (lets face it) often get forgotten about by about March time.
Just imagine what you could achieve after regular use and a healthier diet (not the rubbish I eat).
I cant wait to test out Zumba Fitness 2!comments powered by Disqus
